Karachi: The 8th International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) will be held from December 1 to 4, 2014 at the Expo Centre, Karachi. The Pakistan government attaches a high level of importance to IDEAS; despite the fact that it attracts a large number of delegates.
This was specified by Brig Mazhar Mushtaq Qureshi during a press briefing at the Expo Centre after the first Steering Committee meeting for IDEAS-2014. The meeting was chaired by Maj Gen Tahir Ashraf Khan, the Director General of the Defence Export Promotion Organization (DEPO), Ministry of Defence Production.
The meeting was attended by representatives of related ministries, armed forces, law enforcement agencies, relevant government departments, DEPO officials and Badar Expo Solutions (event manager). More than 200 companies from nearly 60 countries, including the United States, China and European countries are taking part in the annual show of military hardware organized by Pakistan’s Defence Production Ministry.
During the meeting, departments responsible for the conduct of various activities for IDEAS-2014, were informed about the necessities related to plan and organization at Expo Centre, traffic management, communication infrastructure and allied facilities around the Expo Centre.
IDEAS has considerably contributed towards promoting strategic partnership with the country’s friends and has worked to achieve the shared ideas of peace and constancy in the region, Brig Mazhar Mushtaq said. The event’s main task has always been to showcase Pakistan’s ability to export weapons to foreign nations and to increase Pakistan’s exports in the Defence sector.
