9-Month Baby Booked For Attempting Murder In Lahore

Muhammad Musa1Lahore: A nine-month-old boy accused with murder, was reportedly taken into custody, for attempted murder by attacking a police team. Mohammad Musa might not be old enough to have taken his first step but that has not stopped a Pakistani court from charging the attempt murder.

Police officers reached at a family home at February 1 to collect payment for a gas bill, senior police officer Atif Zulfikar Butt said the baby’s father, one of his teenage sons and others in the residence severely injured some of the officials by throwing bricks. Child Muhammad Musa Khan was booked in along with 30 other people, after stones were allegedly thrown at police.

Sub-Inspector Kashif Ahmed decided to arrest the child as he was capable of taken part in the alleged stone throwing. Baby Muhammad is now expected back in court on 12 April, although the judge apparently noted the ridiculous nature of the charge, he does not have the powers to dismiss the case against him.

Senior Supervisor of Police Rana Jabbar said there had been misunderstanding on the part of police to book the negligible in the case. “The police filed a wrong, false arrest charge sheet and brought this innocent 9-month-old into this court room for an appearance,” the family’s lawyer, Irfan Tarar, said. The child’s father, Mohammad Ahmed said police had registered a fake case against 25 people in total, including him and his son.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif directed police to immediately suspend a Pakistani official for registering the case against the baby nine months old boy.
