Easily accessible via two of Karachi’s primary thoroughfares – University Road and Abul-Hasan-Isphahani Road – Block 7, Gulshan-e-iqbal is one of the most well-developed blocks in the area. An upscale residential enclave… If you drive through the wide, tree-lined roads of Block 7, you will see decades old, well-maintained, rambling homes with well-kept gardens and porches often decked out with garden furniture. You may also spot residents enjoying a cup of tea and snacks during lazy summer evenings as they catch up with their neighbours. Gated communities – with quality educational institutions and healthcare facilities – are a recent addition and have added to the appeal and value of the property there.
Shopping, food and fun… Although several grocery shops, pharmacies and superstores are located there , it is the Sunday Bachat Bazzar which remains the major crowd puller, for both residents and visitors. Here you will find everything under the sun – from home accessories, clothing, furniture, electronic appliances, handbags , shoes and more – and at a bargain , if you are prepared to haggle. Foodie options are limited to fast food and barbeque, although the Block is famous for the halwa puri and doodh patti served at the many dhabas there. Several small parks dot the area while Safari Park and the Go Aish Adventure Park, which are a few minute’s drive away , remain popular recreational spots.
The real estate take…. Primarily a residential area, property options include houses and apartments located within gated communities. Recently, several houses have been converted into condo-style and studio apartments to cater to the increasing demand for property. Commercial property options are largely limited to standalone shops and retail space in low-rise buildings. Residential property prices and rentals are expected to increase substantially in the next few years.
In a nutshell…. With increasing investor interest, as well as the presence of quality educational institutes, dining and recreational facilities, Block 7 has evolved from a quiet residential pocket into onward of Karachi’s more sought-after neighbourhoods.
