Agriculture Marketing In Pakistan

To protect the interest of growers and consumer, markets has been organized in accordance with the Muslim Act. In addition, agencies like Agricultural Marketing and Storage Limited (AMSL), and Pakistan Agricultural Storage Services Corporation (PASSCO), has been set up to procure agricultural commodities direct from the growers at prices fixed by the Government and sell these to the markets to stabilised the prices.

Utility Store Corporation also makes purchases from the producers and cell commodities at rates lower than the market. This has also reduced the effects of speculation created by the middlemen in the market.

Aridity is the chief natural problem. Topography and soil generally help agriculture with the exception of some unfavourable areas. Plan diseases and pests adversely affect agricultural production.
