ANP Mian Iftikhar Hussain Brief Profile

ANP Mian Iftikhar HussainEX Khyber Pakhtunkhwa information minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain has been associated with Awami National Party (ANP) since 1988. Mian Iftikhar who is known for his outspoken and blunt nature has also served on several senior positions including general secretary.  He appointed KP’s information minister in 2008 after winning in general elections from PK-12; Nowshera-I.

Mr. Hussain has also remain succeeded in general elections of 1990, 1997 and 2008 for provincial assembly seat as he had faced defeat in 1993 and 2002 elections. However senior leader of ANP was also elected as the Central President of the Pakhtun Students Federation in 1986.

On the other hand, Iftikhar Hussain has played an important role in protesting against the military during the time of Ziaul Haq’s rule. ANP leader who is used to raise his voice against Taliban has become victim of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in 2010 as he has also lost his only son in the same year in the attack by Taliban but remain stood in several campaigns against terrorism.

The 57 years old politician completed his early education from the Islamia Arabia Public School after which he joined Government College, Peshawar. Although, he completed his graduation from Government College, Peshawar. He was born in Pabbi region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 1958.
