Pakistani umpire Asad Rauf whose name is coming in Indian Premier League (IPL) spot fixing scandal is looking for help from PML-N President Nawaz Sharif. According to leading Urdu newspaper Asad Rauf has started contacting elected Punjab Assembly members.
Asad Rauf attended the reception hosted by Chaudhry Shahbaz Ahmed, Ghazali Saleem Butt and urged elected Punjab Assembly members to arrange his meeting with Prime Minister in waiting Nawaz Sharif.
Indian media has accused Asad Rauf of spot fixing however Asad denied all the allegations in a press conference in Lahore. Asad said: “I have never been involved in any kind of fixing, neither have I accepted any gift. This allegation is totally baseless,”
The 57-year-old Asad Rauf has officiated 48 Test matches, 98 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 23 Twenty20 Internationals. Asad Rauf was withdrawn from upcoming ICC Champions Trophy which is to be held in UK.
