Bank Road, Rawalpindi – Banking On Diversity

Dating to the British Raj, Bank Road was once one of Rawalpindi’s upscale residential areas. However, over the years it has evolved into one of the city’s most popular commercial districts. Past to present… Within the last 30 odd years, the palatial houses that once characterized Bank Road have been demolished to make way for commercial buildings (popularly called plazas’),standalone shops, small, maze-like bazaars as well as malls (many of which are under construction).

As a result, Bank Road is a go to place for shopping. In fact, chances are that no matter what you are looking for, you will find it, be it groceries, fabric, shoes, readymade clothes, jewellery, books, home ware or electronic appliances. And the best part is that these items can be found at varied prices ranges, depending on whether you buy them at a small standalone shop at bargain rates or at a high-end retail store.

Food, glorious food… Bank Road is a well-known foodie destination. This is partially due to the recent establishment of a Food Street, as well as the presence of well-known eateries that have been there for as long as anyone can remember. Popular restaurants and foodie hotspots include Chung Pa Chinese Restaurant, Des Pardes, Karim Samosa Centre and Texas Steak House, all illustrating the diversity of Bank Road’s culinary repertoire.

The real estate take… Due to its central location in Saddar, property prices on Bank Road are among the highest in Rawalpindi and increase by nearly 35% every year. Commercial property options include standalone shops and retail space. Residential property options are limited to houses built on plots measuring between 200 and 400 square yards.

In a nutshell… Thanks to the diversity of its shopping and dining options, Bank Road has something for everyone and caters to every budget.
