Cars On The Catwalk At Beach Luxury Hotel

Following on the success of the first edition in 2014, the second Fashion-Mobile Car Show will take place tomorrow, March 23, at the Beach Luxury Hotel, Karachi at noon and will continue late into the night. This year’s theme is ‘A Drive Through Ears’ and the Show will feature automobiles, owned by Pakistani vintage car buffs, dating from the 1920s all the way up to the present.

The Show has been divided into two segments: ‘Pre-Sunset’ and ‘Post-Sunset’. The former is a traditional car show (that will take place between 12:00 p.m. And 5:00 pm) where rare motorbikes (including rugged Harley Davidsons) and classic and vintage cars will be displayed. The latter is an ‘automobile fashion show’ which will take place in the evening, and will entail iconic vintage and classic cars from different periods being driven down a specially-built ramp, accompanied by models dressed in vibrant costumes of that decade, against the beat of the popular hits that defined that time.

The first car to be driven down the ramp is expected to be an eye-catching 1929 Hupmobile. Manufactured between 1909 and 1940 by the Hupp Motor Company, the Hupmobile made its debut at the 1909 Detroit Auto Show and was an instant hit. As only 500 Hupmobiles were manufactured, having one on display is expected to be a big draw for car enthusiasts, especially given  the fact that this particular Hupmobile grabbed the third position in Class A at the prestigious Kuwait Concours D’Elegance in 2012. Other cars that are expected to make an appearance include an elegant Lincoln Continental which dates to the 1940s, in addition to a light green Bentley TurboR from the 1980s.

With music, fashion and plenty of vintage beauties on display, the Fashion-Mobile Car Show promises to be an unforgettable  experience for car enthusiasts.
