Dairy Farming & Sheeps In Pakistan

Dairy Farming: Due to increased demand of milk and dairy products government has established military dairy farms at many places.

  • Lahore Cant (Punjab)
  • Rawalpindi (Punjab)
  • Peshawar Cant (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa)

In Pakistan sector dairy farms have been established in Sahiwal & Khairpur.
In the country we have more than 18 milk plants pasteurize 500 tons milk and manufacture milk powder and are busy in making butter, cheese, ghee and ice-cream.


Sheep: In our country sheep are generally reared in drier parts and on slopes of mountain areas as Thal and Cholistan an Punjab, Nara and Tharparkar areas in Sindh and the slopes of North Eastern and North Western mountainious areas. 
Sheep adjust themselves with dry climates and can graze poor quality of grass.
However the cool mountainous climate suit them. The fat tailed sheep come to these parts.

Sheep farms in private sector have been set up at Thal and Bahawalpur areas. Sheep are mostly bred for cotton and alsi skiny and hides. Every sheep provides four pounds of wool annually which can be used for making medium quality of woolen yarn and cloth.
