Easter Breakfasts Fit For Royalty

Eggs make Easter an ‘ egg -stra’ special occasions as, after the Lenten Fast, when eggs may have been off the menu, these ‘protein bombs’ taste better than ever before. Welcoming eggs back to the table does not mean that they should be served boiled , fried or scrambled; giving them the Ester red carpet treatment elevates them into a culinary world all of their own.

Whisk a raw egg into a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice for a high energy,  protein rich kick-start to the day and you will wonder why you never did this before. Or, whisk a raw egg into whatever fruit smoothie you can conjure up- an egg in a strawberry smoothie rally scrumptious!

If the thought of eat eggs turns you off, then dust off the  frying pan, cut some red, green or yellow capsicum rings, and break an egg in their centre. With a sprinkling of freshly chopped chives, fry them to your personal taste and, when accompanied by special breads made for Easter, you will have breakfast fit for royalty even though it in not the once traditional Faberge.

Alternatively , have some Easter fun by inventing omelettes to meet personal taste, for people who prefer a more substantial start. In this case , an egg – rich quiche is an ‘egg-cellnet’ idea. If a heavy breakfast is liable to send you back to sleep, stick with boiled eggs, but don’t be boring. Enliven them by using bright food colouring to paint the eggs blue, purple , red, and yellow with pink spots or, even better, paint faces on each egg and then sit back and enjoy the hilarity as breakfasters decide which egg resembles whom!

If you don’t like eggs, then a fruity Easter is the healthy way to go: fresh strawberry juice zapped with a splash of soda fizz, lemon juice lassi followed by fruit salad. Or, as this is a time to celebration , indulge in strawberries and cream!
