Fruit Boycott On Friday, Saturday & Sunday in Karachi

People on social media and WhatsApp are circulating message to boycott fruit on Friday, Saturday and Sunday i.e. on 2nd, 3rd and 4th June.
Mr. Hammad Siddiqui asked on his social media profile: So who is not buying fruits? How many do you think will follow the mission? Will it actually change prices (realistically)?

People commented:
It will hurt the thailey wala daily wager.
Not really. There are many people who don’t even know about the boycott & thus they’ll make it unsuccessful.
I will do my part. Insha Allah. + 1 = 11. It will sure create impact. We human always think for the negative side at first before taking a step. most of the time it stops us taking a really good and needed step.
I will not buy fruits sure prices may be decreased.
It is a good move I will follow it.
I should realize that if I, single handedly, boycott this….Prices will be reduced by .000001 Rs. So, I am not buying at all regardless of how others will take it.

Its a terrible idea. Prices are high because there are too many people (and their money) chasing too few fruits and food. Scarcity leads to price hikes. That is basic economics.

Boycott hurts those farmers and distributors who count on the extra income in Ramzan. They have already accounted for your choices from last year (increased purchases) and increased supplies (to certain extent).

If you want lower prices, ask for abolishment of government tariffs on import of foods/ fruit, lower transport taxes, fewer regulations of the markets (which lead to bribes paid by shopkeepers to government regulators and ultimately passed on to you).

This wont work. We should not do this to hurt a fruit person who already buying food expensive from fruit mandi. He is on road to get profit. Its government duty to control prices in market and on small reri on road. If Punjab government can install AC market on road by name of sasta ramzan bazar, then same amount of AC and making bunkers can be utilize in subsidery to fruit so everyone can get benifit, not only who going ramzan bazar.

Secondly government should take strict action on billionaire groups like nestle, png, oil makers, atta factories, dal chawal exporters to control price. Its has been observed when ever oil prices hike they all increase price of their goods. When oil price get low they dont get price down. They should forced accordingly by gov.

It’s painful reality of us, we as a nation hardly get united and If Ever this is planned there are Heroes to Bubble it up like why not against corrupt leader, why not other food food why not clothes but there always has to be a first time,if one gets successful we may start a chain of protest but please let us take initiative, if others don’t wanna join they better remain silent and watch the show.
