Funny Questions by Returning Officers to Election 2013 Candidates

Islamabad: After lots of Media Controversy, The Election commission of Pakistan (ECP) has asked returning officers to focus on decent questions only. The ECP also took this decision after Lahore High Court ruling on this issue. Though the initial stage of Nomination forms of election has been complete, we heard lots of funny but shameful stories also. Many critics said that the scrutiny criteria of Returning officers were very bold and it eliminated less qualified people but it’s also a fact that some unnecessary questions were also asked during this.

No, No, I am not talking about those religious questions like recite Dua e Qunoot and Kalma Shahadat, tell Rakat of Isha Namaz and same types of questions. Here I am arguing on these questions which were totally weird.

There were some funny events happened during all this process. A returning Officer asked candidate to address ABCD but candidate asked, lower case English aur upper case English? Another returning officer asked candidate to tell names of 15 fruits in English. Candidate said Orange, Apple, Grapes and One Dozen Bananas.

This was the funny side from candidates but now see what returning officers asked candidates. Yesterday, a returning officer asked Hina Rabbani for Nikkah Nama.
