Fifteen years ago, Gulistan-e-Jauhar was a sleepy neighborhood with wide roads, a few apartment complexes and large houses. Today, it is a bustling area, with high-rise apartment buildings and plenty of commercial activity.
The most popular block of them all… Block 20 is one of Gulistan-e-jauhar’s most popular residential options. This is partially due to its prime location close of Shahrah-e-Faisal and Dalmia Road, two thoroughfares that provide easy access to other parts Karachi. Another reason is the presence of banks, car showrooms, stores dealing in electronic appliances, salons, restaurants (mainly desi fare), schools, supermarkets and wedding lawns. However, this has also brought around-the-clock traffic jams.
Of parks, recreation and plenty of shopping… Although Block 20 does not have too many recreational or retail options within its periphery , this is not a drawback for options are located within a five-kilometre radius. These include the Aladin Amusement Park, Go Aish, Safari Park and Sindbad’s Wonderland , which are the go-to places for families during the weekend. Two popular shopping malls-Millennium Mall and Saima Square One Mall are also located nearby.
The real estate take…. Residential options are primarily restricted to apartments in low-income and high-rise buildings, many of which provide facilities such as elevators and backup generators. Houses can be found built on plots measuring 200 and 400 square yards. Many houses built on large plots on main roads have been repurposed into salons, schools and showrooms. Commercial property options include standalone shops , office space and retail space. Property value increase by seven to 10% every year and rentals increase by 12 to 15%.
In a nutshell… Despite the con constant traffic jams, Block 20 remains one Karachi’s most popular mid-range residential areas thanks to shopping and recreational options it provides residents.
