Islamabad: Punjab Chief Minister Son and MNA Hamza Shahbaz Sharif along with police officials are alleged to forcefully ending the ‘Assignment’ program telecasted on Waqt News Channel every Monday. It happened when the program host, Ameer Abbas played controversial items that depicted police authorities’ violent and inhumane actions.
In Changa Manga, District Kasur the incident happened. The man died of the torture done by the policemen. The news channel had produced a package that included videos, pictures, telephone calls evidence of policemen’s violent and inhumane actions towards those held up in lock ups.
It is reported that the program had things that could damage the reputation of the law enforcers and a big question over their responsibility and duty.
After it, the governing officials did not have courage to see the video while the plea of the victims belonging from poor class remained unheard. This calls to several questions.
Is there anyone who can question politicians to what is going on? Where is justice? Where is press freedom? If voice of poor is ignored then when their status and right would be acknowledged?
Such videos need to be regulated on the social media so that those institutions which claim of ‘freedom of speech’, their actual faces can be made public.
