High Prices of Cement In Pakistan

cement pakistanChairman, Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD), Mr. Rahat talked about the problems they have been facing due to an increase in cement prices. According to him, the price of cement was Rs. 270 per bag in 2010, which was increased to Rs. 350 in 2011 and now has gone up another 85 rupees in 2012.

This increase in price will seriously affect the building industry, which is already facing problems.  It will also negatively impact the individual buying power.

Mr. Rahat further claimed that the cement manufacturers have formed a cartel and are producing only 60 to 70 percent of the production capacity.  If they increase production to 100 percent, it will have a good impact on the building industry. Therefore they requested the government and other concerned department to take immediate action regarding this problem.
