Municipality of Thatta recovered 20 kilograms expired meat from the hotel. Waste was lying in the hotel of the kitchen. This action was taken on the public complaint. The hotel manager and staff were arrested. The meat was confiscated.
Hotel manager said that meat was purchased from Hyderabad meat market for the purpose of cooking. It was stored in the fridge. But this meat expired due to the unscheduled load shedding.
Deputy Commissioner & District Returning Officer Thatta Nadeem urRehman Memon ordered to seal the hotel after the recovery of expired meat and First Information Report (FIR) was lodged against hotel immediately.
Further he told that Food Quality Control Authority and his department have totally failed to tackle the serious crime of food adulteration.
“It is the prime responsibility of government to ensure healthy food for consumers at every level”, he added.
Nadeem Rehman told that he is facing criticism by different restaurants because of his actions.
He added those restaurants and hotels which are using substandard meat will be fined and penalized and strict action will be taken against them.
