JI Successful in PK-95

JI-flagPeshawar: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has won in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly’s constituency PK-95 Lower Dir as there was a tough competition between JI and ANP candidates. According to unofficial results JI’s candidate Malik Izaz has won by getting 9,812 votes. On the other hand, Malik Izaz’s competitor Bahadur Khan who belong from Awami Natioanl party (ANP) received 15,954 votes as turnout of 26% has emerged in the elections.

However workers of both parties took part greatly in the elections by support their candidates. 85 polling stations were formed in the constituency for elections as 33 polling stations were declared sensitive. Polling continued in a peaceful manner until eight o’clock pm under tight security arrangements. There were 127096 registered voters in the constituency in which 53,000 women have also been involved but women’s turnout was low.

Earlier it was reported that the tribal jirga stopped women from voting at Khazana polling station where 1000 women voters were registered.[alert style=”white”]It is pertinent to mention that this seat has been vacant since JI’s Ameer Sirah Ul Haq was elected as senator of JI. [/alert]  Government announced public holiday today in the Lower Dir District in order to hold peaceful elections.
