K-electric fails to give electricityKarachi: K-Electric (KESC) has admitted their failure at Sindh High Court to end the load shedding and told that load shedding cannot be finished until 2018 due to decrease in productivity and lack of production of power from federal. The court adjourned the hearing and directed to K-Electric to file a reply.

The petition was filed by Rana Faiz-Ul-Hassan in which he has claimed against Federal Minister of Privatization, K-Electric, National Electric and Power regulatory Authority (NEPRA) and Oil and gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA.) The petition claimed that capacity of productivity of K-Electric is about 2338 megawatts and power is also taking from federal while requirement of electricity in Karachi is about 2778 megawatts so there is no justification of load shedding. The applicant further argued that 10 to 12 hours unannounced load shedding is being taking place in the cities due to which millions of citizens are facing hard times.

Petitioner Rana Faiz-Ul-Hassan also claimed that K-electric even do not cooperate with the citizens when they contact with organization regarding electricity. He added that there is a shortfall of only about 437 megawatts so there is no question raised for load shedding. He demanded that Production details report commission report about privatization should be asked from KESC. However, court has ordered to reply from K-Electric.
