Karachi Could Be Affected By Tsunami

TsunamiKarachi: Karachi who is known as the largest city of Pakistan is in danger as United Nations reports and officials are saying that Karachi may be affected by Tsunami with 0.9 to seven metres (3-23 feet) high waves if tsunami meets with Eurasian and Arabia Oceans. The cautionary alert has come out a day earlier after drill exercises of a major earthquake in the Indian Ocean which were designed with the help of the United Nations in order to check early warning.

The chief meteorologist, Tauseef Alam who was conducting the tests as warning system that was set up after 2004 tsunami in the Indian Ocean told that the quake would create very influential and strong waves through which whole Karachi could be wipe out in one and a half hours. He also told that don’t know when but as Karachi is weak so there is a risk of one more tsunami in the same district.

[alert style=”white”]We are trying to aware the people with correct time and operational notification of tsunamis so that people could do safety preparation as Pakistan also included in the boundary between the Eurasian and Indian plates, Tauseef Alam added.[/alert]It is pertinent to mention that Kashmir was affected by the tsunami in October 2005 with a shocking 7.6-magnitude earthquake due to which 376 people were killed and 100,000 people became homeless.
