Lakhvi Release, India’s letter To UN

LakhviNew Delhi: India has written a letter to United Nations on the release of Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi who is accused of Mumbai attack of 2008. According to the details, Ashok Mukherjee, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN has written a letter to a head of the UN Sanctions Committee in which Intervention is expecting from UN by declaring release of Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi as violation of UN Resolution 1267.

It has also demanded in the letter to raise the issue of release of Lakhvi with Pakistan as he has released on bail on 10th April on the orders of the court as he was being held in jail along with other 6 suspects. [alert style=”white”]Zaki-ur-Rehman blamed by India as mastermind behind the Mumbai attack 2008 at which Pakistan arrested him few years ago when he was coming back from Muzaffarabad.[/alert]

On December 18, 2014, Anti-Terrorism Court had ordered to release him on bail but on the very next day, government challenged the orders of his release in the Islamabad’s court. However jail authorities released Lakhvi on the orders of Lahore High Court after the clearance of Home Secretary Punjab.  It is pertinent to mention that Lakhvi is known as top leader of Lashkar-e-Taiba and he is nominated on the NIA Most Wanted List.
