Main Points Of The Indian Independence Act

Following were the main points of Indian Independence Act of (1947):

1. India and Pakistan will be fully empowered to frame their constitution independently.

2. So long both the countries do not complete their own constitutions; the government will be run in accordance with the existing Government of India Act of 1935.

3. All the pacts accepted between the British Government and royal states will become null and void.

4. The title of ‘Emperor of India’ will be deleted from the titles of British King.

5. British Crown will have no right to reject any law framed by India and Pakistan for their own countries. This right will be used only by the respective Governor Generals.

On July 20, 1947 the two separate and independent governments were established for India and Pakistan.
