Pakistan famous and credible journalist Ansar Abbasi in his latest column has written that a civil servant Mohammad Sami Ullah retired recently from Grade-21. Sami Ullah has done masters in economics from Pakistan and US. Ansar wrote that Sami Ullah wears Imama which most of the Pakistan government officials and top bureaucrat do not support.
On 1st April, 2013 Sami Ullah went to NADRA (National Database and Registration Authority) office to renew his CNIC (Computerized National Identity Card). The officers at NADRA office asked Sami Ullah to remove Imama from photograph. Sami Ullah was shocked to hear this, he said to the NADRA official that he has gone to many places but no one has objected to his Imama. NADRA official replied that it is now necessary to remove Imama for photograph.
[alert style=”green”] Nawaz Sharif wears suit, tie during foreign tours instead of wearing Pakistan’s national dress, writes Ansar Abbasi
[/alert]
Sami Ullah wrote letter to NADRA chairman on 4th April in which he condemned this act of NADRA and sought action on this but in reply NADRA said that Sami Ullah must co-operate with NADRA staff. Now Sami Ullah has written letter to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and has told him the complete story.
Ansar Abbasi has written that Sami Ullah told him that Sikhs are not asked to remove their turban (pagri) when their photograph is taken for CNIC which isa good thing. However it is disappointing that in Islamic Republic of Pakistan Sikhs are given permission to wear turban while photographing for CNIC whereas Muslims are asked to remove their Imama.
there is no harm tu remove imama for the photo….instead of making it religion issue you should be co operate with staff ….people like you smile and says thanks to staff on foreign airports, office etc……if there is procedure rule or instructions of nadra you should appreciate staff that they are following it…..ansar abbasi ???? Its his business as vendor sales chorun,,,munjan
This is called religious freedom , Sami Ullah should be allowed to have his Imama , if he wants to. Every country is making laws according to their culture and norms. So why a Muslim can not wear a “Turban or Imama” according to his religious beliefs?
I agree with adnan khan except for the last part. One should learn to respect opinions. At the same time people of opinion should give their opinion but follow the executive untill it is blatantly against nusoos of Quran and Sunna.
Mr Adnan khan , anything in the above is written what harm or not. Let me clear to ur small mind who can sold his sisters and daughters.
The point is that when Sikhs are allowed to follow their religious practice than why would not muslim. if you are saying we appreciate staff for following the rule why not they apply it to every one.. then we will discuss that it is harm or not or nadra should allow or not.. Why dual policy here.
