Nawaz Sharif May Get Contempt of Court Warning: Supreme Court

Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has rejected the request of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa about the prisoners of the Malakand Jail. Federal Province Government has been ordered to recover other missing persons. According to news, the missing person case in which Chief Justice of Pakistan had given a limit to produce missing persons till 18th, March 2014.

Court ordered Prime Minister and Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for quick recovery of missing persons of Malakand while court had ordered to take action on illegal arrested persons. Earlier, the bench had ordered secretary Defense to produce all the remaining missing persons in one hour. However no action has been taken according to the court’s orders. The court had held that such practices were a serious crime against humanity.

missing persons in pakistanIt also directed Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mohammad Shahzad Arbab to inform Chief Minister Pervez Khattak about the non-compliance of the court order. The appeal drafted by Additional Attorney General Shah Khawar exposed that the Supreme Court had failed to take into consideration that the armed forces were called in Malakand to fight the worst form of terrorism in the area.

Justice Jawwad said they had seen that legislation was done overnight on some problems but on this sensitive matter the legislation had been lasting for many months. Province is helpless if province use their options then something will happen otherwise not, he added.

Without proper support in this matter through an analysis, the Pakistan Army should not have been held responsible for having detained these missing persons, the petition said.
