In Pakistan there is no concept of toll free calls by government institutions, banks and other companies. Most of the banks have UAN (111) number which charges per minute. Few of the banks have 0800 numbers but this is number is only toll free when it is dialed from landline. If one is dialing from his/her mobile then 0800 number also charges per minute.
If a daily wage labor calls to NADRA or any bank to inquire about something and he talked around 10-15 minutes then around 30-50 rupees will be charged which is too much for him.
It is very important that government institutions like NADRA, Passport Office and others provide such numbers to public which is toll free from mobile also as now most of the people have mobile. For banks in Pakistan it is surprising that they also didn’t have toll free number unlike Dubai and other countries where toll free number is provided by bank which can also be dialed through mobile.
