Pakistan Hockey Team Squad Announced For 17th Asian Games

Islamabad: Pakistan Hockey Team Squad has announced for 17th Asian games on Wednesday with a squad of 18-members which is schedule to be start from 19 September in Incheon at South Korea. According to the details, the names of selected players were announced by the national selection committee at the Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium.

Islahuddin Siddiqui including Olympian Khalid Bashir and Musaddiq Hussain led the national selection committee in which Islahuddin Siddiqui addressed to the occasion and told that squad is selected on merit basis. Islahuddin further told that before selection of players, physical fitness and performance were also measured of every player during the training sessions which is very important factor of selection.

The names of captain and vice-captain will be announced in next few days by Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), Islahuddin Siddiqui added. Moreover, he said that before participating in Asian games, the team will go to Europe as PHF is planning for the tour of Europe. Shahnaz Sheikh, the head coach of the team was also presented during the occasion.

PHF secretary Rana Mujahid revealed that Imran and Shafqat Rasool are likely to become a captain and vice-captain of the national team. Mr. Mujahid also said that selection committee was free from any interference of PHF and selection committee has selected very balanced and stable team.
