Pakistan – Imports And Exports

To earn money, a country has to make and sell a lot of things. We earn by exporting our goods to other countries. Goods which are not made here have to be imported from other countries which costs more. Import and exports have to be balanced. We cannot afford to import things if we do not earn money by exporting other things.

At the moment, we import more things than we export. Some of the products we export are cotton, rice, leather and leather goods, carpets, surgical instruments and sport goods. 
Some of the things we import are raw materials for some of our industries, oil to run them and provide power, machinery, electrical goods, tea, edible oil, drugs and medicines.

We trade with many countries of the Middle East and Western Europe and with China, Japan and the USA.
