Pakistan firmly believes that a lasting Middle East settlement will not be possible until Arab and Palestinian rights are fully restored. Accordingly, it has consistently supported cause of Palestinian people, and has backed international efforts to secure termination of Israeli occupation of Arab lands.
For this purpose, Pakistan has sponsored a number of resolutions in the UN Security Council and the UN General Assembly which call for the establishment of a just and durable peace in the Middle East on the basis of the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Arab Lands and restoration of the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people, including the right to an independent and sovereign state of their own.
A reference to some important questions will help towards appreciating the part played by Pakistan in the United Nations.
