Pakistan Prime Minister

The Prime Minister (PM) is the focus of all executive authority and considered to be the fountain head of executive realm in the parliamentary system of Government. According to the article 90 of the constitution, the Federal government is composed of the PM and the members of his/her cabinet. The PM is the Head of the government.

The PM and his cabinet are collectively responsible to the National Assembly (NA). The PM is elected by the NA after 30 days of the General Elections. The President calls the session of the NA for the election of the PM. The candidate for premiership is required to get the majority of the total members of the NA. In case none of the candidates with the highest number of votes in the first round are allowed to contest.

The one who gets the majority of the votes of the members present at the time of voting is declared elected. After getting elected the PM then forms his Cabinet from the members of parliament. The PM is fully empowered to appoint the members.
