Pakistan Sixth Five Year Plan (1983-88)

Prior to the end of the 5th Plan period, the preparation started for the Sixth Five Year Plan of Pakistan. Since the approval was given to this plan by the National Economic Council at the proper time, it was implemented also at the right time.

Size Of The Plan:

The size of the Sixth Plan was more than double of the Fifth Plan; Rs. 495 billion out of which Rs. 295 billion to the public sector and Rs. 20 billion to the private sector were allocated. The contribution of the foreign sources to this plan was reduced from 24 percent to 16 percent only.

Dependence, in this manner, on the foreign aid was reduced substantially. Accelerating pace of economic growth for improving the living standard of the common people and making the production sector of the economy strong.
