Pakistanis Demand Amendments in #CyberBill

cyber-theft#CyberBill is the top trend on social media’s website Twitter on these days as lots of people are criticizing proposed legislations on Cyber Crime Bill and are demanding amendments in #CyberBill. On the other hand, negative response is also been emerging from the users of Facebook in this regard with the claim that people recommendations were needed to be ask in this regard while cyber experts are saying that government should discuss with them before proposing amendments in #CyberBill.

However #CyberBill act which has proposed with the aim to eliminate crimes on the internet was set by a Pakistani law firm, a Pakistani law firm, Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA) and the Internet Service Providers Association of Pakistan (Ispak). It is facilitated by Bolo Bhi which is actively involved in collaboration and consultation with the experts in the proposed draft of #CyberBill.

However there are several laws which has focused in the draft of proposed cybercrime bill which are:

  • Cartoons and memes regarding any political aspect is criminalized
  • It is crime to send any message or email without  permission of recipients
  • Internet has also enlarged at several crowded place such as restaurants, malls, airports, hotels, offices and stations as ISPs can be punished for not providing internet access to the public.
