PCB Bans Cricketer Raza Hassan For Two Years

Raza HassanLahore: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been banned young Pakistani spinner Raza Hasan for two years on charges of cocaine use. According to PCB spokesman, Raza Hassan will not be able to take part in any kind of cricket during the period of the ban nor will be a part of any activity related to cricket.

PCB Spokesman also said that Hassan Raza will provide a chance to participate in anti-doping education and rehabilitation programs by PCB. PCB also pointed that a dope test of cricketer was taken in January during Pentangular One Day Tournament in Karachi which was emerged as positive. It is important to mention that PCB took dope test of several cricketers during this event as Raza’s test samples was sent to approve laboratory of India by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

However, after being banned from the board any police investigation or litigation can occurred against the 22-years old cricketer because cocaine use is a crime in Pakistan. This may be the first incident of use of cocaine in cricket but several world players including fast bowlers Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif have been banned due to the use of illegal substances in the past.
