Karachi: Former President Pervez Musharraf’s property scandal has been exposed as he used Army martyrs land in the name of Political bribery. According to the details, Pervez Musharraf gave 1200 canal to the close aides of senior leaders of a political party in 2004 in order to get political support.
According to a local newspaper, ministers of one more political party also got valuable part of the land from the allotted property for the family of martyrdoms of Pak Bahria and retired officers. On the other hand, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has also started investigation in this regard but ended their further investigation after a while.
Although Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) government allotted land of 17578 acres for the family of martyrdoms and retired officials in 2001 which was distributed among the three forces by Pervez Musharraf who was serving as army general at that time. In this manner, Pakistan army got huge part from that allotted land as well as Navy and Pak Fazaia also received some part from the property.
However, property in KPK which was allotted for the family of martyrdoms and retired officers by KPK government was used as political bribe by Pervez Musharraf. With respect to the report in 2008, Army martyrdoms land was transferred on the name of close aides of two senior ministers of a political party. While Revenue Department of Dera Ismail Khan said that both senior leaders used 6 canal of land for their personal use.
Alignment letters regarding 1200 canal were issued from General Headquarter (Welfare and Rehabilitation Directorate GHQ) Rawalpindi on the signatures of Lieutenant colonel Muhammad Zafar on 23rd October, 2004 over the orders of Pervez Musharraf. However this alignment was passed just two months before the ending of tenure of Pervez Musharraf as Army Chief.
The 71-years old former army general became a billionaire in a short period of time as no one from which source he became rich or funded him. He gathered billions, dollars, sterling pounds and dirhams in seven to ten offshore accounts as well as also purchased properties in Pakistan and foreign too. Musharraf who was belonged from middle class family has made massive amount of money from different sources as he has invested his money in foreign countries too.
