Mian Tariq Mehmood is a renowned politician of constituency pp-113 (Gujrat-VI). He is a member of 16th Assembly whose tenure began in the year 2013 and continues till date. His current official position is that of a member of Special Committee No.1, Public Accounts Committee-II and Finance Committee of the Assembly. His party affiliation is Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) who has formed the government in previous elections and has been a popular party since the birth of Pakistan, led by famous politician and business man with influential family background Mian Muhammad Nawaz Shareef. Due to his high mandate Mian Tariq Mehmood has earned the reward of being a member in Provincial Assembly of Punjab many times. He had been an MPA in Punjab Assembly from 2008-2013, 1988-1990, 1997-1999 and 1990-1993. His family members are also politicians who have served at the official positions. His brother Mian Amjad Mahmood was an official in local government back in 1991 till the year 1996. His daughter Maria Tariq has also been associated with Provincial Assembly of the Punjab from the year 2002 till 2007. He speaks Punjabi and Urdu languages and follows Islam as religion.
Mian Tariq Mehmood has travelled to various places across the world on private and official tours. For official tours he travelled to Canada in 2011, to United Kingdom in 1999. He travelled as private tours to Italy, Norway, Spain in 1999 and 2008, United Kingdom in 2012 and 2013 and United States in 2008. He has also been rewarded a journey to Holy House of Allah the Ka’ba, where he performed Umrah.
