Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar announced during his budget speech that Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) initiated by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will continue for the poor people but its name will be changed to f National Income Support Program (NISP).
Ishaq Dar also said that fund allocated for this program will be enhanced from forty to seventy-five billion rupees. During PPP government the monthly allowance was Rs. 1000 under BISP now it will be raised to Rs. 1200 under NISP. A strategy will be made so that deserving people get benefits from this program and they will be trained to become efficient and form their own business.
PML-N government has also raised general sales tax (GST) from 16 to 17 percent. MQM leader Farooq Sattar while commenting on this increase in GST said that a new tsunami of inflation and price will be seen in coming days.
