Another motive of the non-aligned movement is to preserve the world peace. Non-aligned states fell that the course adopted by them is best designed to prevent war. They contend that throughout history, alliances and arms race have eventually resulted in war.
History is witness to the fact that non-aligned states have actively contributed to the preservation of world peace in the past-Korea; Indo-China and Cogo are some of the cases in point. They have also supplied impartial policemen and observers to the UN.
Therefore the neutralists who constitute a larger group, have and can further play an important role in preventing war and preserving world peace. Finally the new independent states wanted peace in the world so that they could concentrate as much as possible on their socio-economic uplift and development.
