Primary Health Care Project – Pakistan

The Government of Pakistan is currently implementing a Primary Health Care Project which is, in fact, a continuation of the National Health Care Plan. The measurable goals in areas served by the project include at least:

1. 20 percent reduction in infant and child morality.

2. 20 percent reduction in moderate to severe malnutrition; and

3. 35 percent reduction in deaths due to diarrheal diseases.

The Project consist integrated component as follows, Programme Management, Training of Medical Technicians & Community Health Workers, Programme Operations, Research & Evaluation, Accelerated Health Programme, (AHP).

The Government has launched an Accelerated Health Programme that envisages the protection of the country’s entire child population by immunization against whooping, cough, polio, measles, & tetanus.
