Peshawar: Zafarullah Khattak, the former Peshawar district president of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf alleges police highhandedness while saying that he and his friend were arrested by the police at Shaheed Gulfat Hussain police station without any charge. According to the details, additional SHO Irfan stopped Zafarullah Khattak’s for inspection on GT Road near Hashtnagr at 11:00 PM as he was with his friend Akhtar Mohammad.
PTI Zafarullah Khattak told to media on Sunday at police station that police kept him and his friend in the lock-up by taking up our mobile phones without any crime as we have also showed our CNICs to the officer for the verification process. He further told additional SHO, constable and wireless operator also maltreated with them and kept them in jail for one night. In this regard, a large number of PTI’s activists gathered together outside the police station and started to chant slogans against police and their culture. PTI’s activists demanded for the suspension of the police staff for alleged arresting of PTI Zafarullah Khattak.
In order to sort out the matter, SHO Waris Khan arrived at the Shaheed Gulfat Hussain police station and assured to PTI’s activists and Zafarullah Khattak to take legal action against police staff who misbehave with Mr. Zafarullah Khattak and his friend.
