PTI’s Ehtesham Javed Akbar Wins By Election In Dera Ismail Khan

Polling in Dera Islmail KhanDera Ismail Khan: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) candidate Ehtesham Javed Akbar has succeeded in by-election in Dera Ismail Khan for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly seat PK-68 by securing 37,686 votes against Makhdom Mureed Kazim Shah who got 32,640 votes. According to the details, 13 candidates took part for PK-68 seat which was free after Javed Akbar Khan was disqualified on December 12, 2013 due to his fake degrees.

Almost 108 polling stations were arranged in which 31 stations were affirmed “highly sensitive” while 29 of them were “sensitive”. The timings of the voting at all polling stations were 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on the day of Sunday as the polling was done in a relatively peaceful manner with a total of 123,914 (69,003 men and 58,614 women) voters in the constituency. PTI’s Ehtesham Javed Akbar who contested the by-poll on a Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf ticket is the son of Javed Akbar who also earned the seat as an independent nominee in May 2013.

Makhdom Mureed Kazim Shah who was fully supported by Pakistan Peoples Party, Awami National Party and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam also contested for PK-68 seat as an independent candidate. It is pertinent to mention that Makhdom Mureed has also contested in the 2013 elections as a candidate of the ANP.
