Senior News Editor
Job Profile: You will direct and supervise the work of various Desk Editors and provide leadership to a team of young professionals (both men & women) that may include reporters, translators, copy editors, NLE staff, cameramen and other technical and journalistic hands who are generating inputs for the screen. You are an energetic person who understands news as a commodity; has the experience or demonstrable capability of managing others and handling stress that is part of producing results in fast paced news situations and preferably under 45 years of age on 30 th April 2012.
Qualifications:
Masters Degree in one of the disciplines: English Literature, English Language, Mass Communications, Journalism, International Relations, Sociology or other relevant Masters degree program in Social Sciences from a reputable Pakistani or international University, recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). Grade performance in graduate & post-graduate will be given weightage. Candidates must submit, wherever available, scores of standardized tests like TOEFL, SAT, GRE & GMAT that help determine their verbal, written and comprehension skills. Such scores will have additional bearing in evaluation. You are comfortable with all kind of internet research & latest applications of Microsoft Office.
Experience:
2-5 years of relevant or related work experience in either a Pakistani or international English language News & Current Affairs television channel, English newspaper, major English magazine or a similar experience with a reputable web publication.
Language Proficiency:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English & Urdu will need to be proved by documentary evidence for instance through published work (with names & dates) and during interviews.
