Rehabilitation Of Refugees In Pakistan

This was the most important problem towards which the Quaid-e-Azam gave most of his attention. Quaid-e-Azam Relief Fund was instituted. An appeal was made to the people in general and, particularly, the rich and wealthy, to donate generously for the help of their brethren in distress.

In October 1947, Quaid-e-Azam visited Lahore for some time to acquaint himself with the problems of refugees who had came in large number after crossing the border. He helped them and arranged for their food and shelter.

On October 30, he addressed public meeting at Lahore and said: “It is now the responsibility of we Pakistanis to help the refugees who had left behind everything in India. They had to experience these troubles because they were Musalmans.”
