Religious Festivals In Islam

The ceremonies of Aqiqa of Muslim children and the western type of birthday ceremonies are celebrated. Similarly the Teja and Chelam of the dead and their anniversaries are also celebrated by offering feasts in the Islamic traditional way. On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, milk and date (Sheer Khurma) and vermacillies are prepared on the first day of lunar month of Shawwal.

Poor people are held on this occasion by payment of charities and also zakat. On the occassion of Eid-ul-Azha roasted meat, Tikka Kabab and Parathas are offered as special dishes. On 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal the birthday of Holy Prophet (SAW) Eid Milad-un-Nabi is celebrated and homes streets and markets are illuminated and meeting are held.

On these Eids people wear new dresses embrace each and distribute gifts among children called Eidi. Hindus, Sikhs and Christians also celebrate their respective religious festivals in Pakistan with great devotion and zeal.
