Retired CJ Chaudhry’s Temporary Residence – 70 Lac Rupees Renewal

 Iftikhar Muhammad ChaudhryIslamabad: Former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has securely settled into a government house which is next to his old official house for six months. The renewal and maintenance has completed at his ‘temporary’ residence that has cost over Rs7 million.

After his retirement on December 11, the CJ has moved at his temporary residence after left his former official residence. He was given house No 12 in the Legal Area, where a judge of the head court was living. The new furniture worth Rs1.6 m and renovation of restrooms exceed over Rs1.4m. The purchase of curtains, wooden floor and rugs also consumed a big amount, giving to official fine points of renovation and maintenance at the residence of the former CJ. The work is still in progress and the facts of these expenditures will be known later.

A conflict politician, Senator Farhatullah Babar, said he had raised a request to the Senate Secretariat for inquiring the information of the sum spent on housing, safekeeping and stay of the former CJ in his new house. I was not alert of any expenditures of Formal CJ’s temporary house, Supreme Court Registrar Dr Faqir Hussain told to reporters.

The DG claimed that the high expanse which had been used at CJ’s residency nor approved by me neither I have perceived such estimates. Registrar accepted that he would answer all the queries on the development work, however he did not reply to questions which had been e-mailed to him even after the duration of 2 weeks. .Besides these he was fully attentive of the outgoings in the residence of the former CJ because he was directing with officials of Pak PWD on the matter, sources reportedly.
