Rock Salt, Soap Stone And Sulphur In Pakistan

Rock Salt: There are huge deposits of excellent Rock Salt in the Salt Range area in Jhelum & Mianwali District, Punjab, & near Bahadur Khel in Kohat District, NWFP. Fovourable conditions exits on sea coast for extraction of salt by solar evapuration.

Rock Salt mining is a government monopoly (through PMDC), PMDC is operating five salt mines at Khewra, Warcha, Kalabagh (Punjab) & Jatta, Bahadur Khel (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa).

Soap Stone: Commercial deposits of Soap Stone are presently found only in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where it occurs in parts of Hazara District and in Khyber and Kurram Agencies.

Sulphur: Sulphur is used as a raw material in various industries such as chemicals and matches etc. The GSP has completed exploration of Sulphur occurrences of Koh-e-Sultan and Sanni in Balochistan.
