Secondary Education – Pakistan

This is structurally organized in three stages:

1. Middle or junior Secondary with grades VI to VIII, for the 10 to 12 age group.

2. High School with grades IX to X, for the 13 to 14 age group, leading to the Secondary School Certificate Examination.

3. Higher Secondary or Intermediate with grades, XI to XII, for the 15 to 16 age group, leading to the Higher Secondary School Certificate or Intermediate Examination.

In addition to its three structural levels, Secondary Education is made available through three different types of schools. In the first category there are junior/middle schools and high schools with national & regional languages as medium of instruction: & these generally charging very moderate fees, constitutes bulk of Secondary School Provision. They are managed by Government or local bodies or by private organization.
