Sector 1-10, Islamabad – Comfortable Living

Located at the junction of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, Sector 1-10 is onward of Islamabad’s oldest residential neighbourhoods. It is easily accessible via the city’s major throughfares, including the Islamabad Highway, IJP Principle Road and Kashmir Highway.

An affordable neighbourhood… Sector 1-10 is divided into four sub-sectors (1,2 and 4) are characterised by quiet streets, well-kept houses and a well maintained infrastructure. Amenities include verdant parks, well-reputed educational institutes and medical services. However, sector 1-10/3, which is adjacent to Sector 1-9 (an industrial zone), is referred to as an ‘industrial area’, due to the fact that the offices of several national and multinational companies, showrooms, as well as warehouses, are located there.

Of food and shopping… Several commercial pockets dot Sector 1-10, however 1-10  Markaz is the most popular, due to of a wide range of shops, including grocery stores, supermarkets, chemists and retail stores. Other prime shopping avenues include Local Market, Javed Market and Shaheen Market, where a variety of goods can be sourced. Several restaurants and cafes are located there as well, of which Ali Baba Cafe, Heaven Foods, Pizzano, Samina, Sooper Grill and Zaiqa Restaurant tend to be the most popular.

The real estate take… Despite a prime location, property prices in Sector 1-10 are relatively lower compared to the neighbouring areas. Property is in high demand and the value increases by 20% to 25% every year. Residential property options are restricted to houses , while commercial property can be found in the form of standalone shops, retail space in low-rise buildings, office space, showrooms and warehouses. It is completely built-up and vacant plots are therefore not available.

In a nutshell…. Although Sector 1-10 may not be a commercial or a foodie hotspot, due to the amenities it provides residents, not to mention a tranquil ambience, it is considered to be a popular mid-range area that offers comfortable living to its residents.
