Shaikh Ahmed Sirhindi (1564-1624) – A Brief Profile

Shaikh Ahmed Sirhindi, commonly known as Mujaddid Alif-Sani (the reformer of the second millennium), was born on 26 June, 1564, in Sirhindi, a city of East Punjab. He was educated at home and was inducted in to mysticism by his father, Shaikh Abdul-Ahad, who was himself an eminent Sufi.

He learnt the Quran by heart very early. After recieving his early education from his father, he proceeded to Lahore and Sialkot for higher education. At Sialkot he obtained religious education from such reputed scholars as Maulana Kamaluddin Kashmiri & Maulana Yaqoob Kashmiri.

At the age of 36, he went to Delhi & there he met Khawaja Baqi Billah who introduced him to Naqshbandi Silsilah. Shaikh Ahmed was not new to Sufi disciple as he had make remarkable progress & soon reached sublime heights of experience & supreme vision.
