Shaukat Khanum Hospital SMS Service 7770 Banned by PTA?

SKMCHPakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has banned the SMS service 77770 of Shaukat Khanum Hospital as people are now unable to donate money via SMS service of Shaukat Khanum Hospital as people were able to send blank message to 7770. No reason has been provided by PTA for banning this SMS service, however simple and easy service of denoting charity for cancer hospital has been ended.

The end of SMS service of SKMCH came into view when Imran Khan, the chief of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) came on a TV channel in order to make appeal for the donation of Shaukat Khanum’s Peshawar branch as Peshawar branch is set to open in the end of this year due to which denotations are needed. It is pertinent to mention that SKMCH management used to give establishment costs to PTA of this service.

While commenting over the ban on SMS service by PTA, Imran Khan said that PTA should provide these type of charity services in order to help poverty in Pakistan instead of banning them. It is good to know that Imran Khan has recently collected more than PKR 65 crore in 3 hours during telethon campaign on TV channel along with popular celebrities like Javed Sheikh, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Shahid Afridi, Behroz Sabazwari and Abrar Ul Haq.
