Karachi: Former President and the acting co-chairman of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Zardari and his family members have been permitted to use bullet-proof vehicles for the security purposes by the Sindh High Court, said sources.
They can keep armed forces and drive with tinted glass, bullet proof vehicles in accordance to the permission granted by the SHC. The court has also directed the federal and provincial government to ensure security measures. Justice Faisal Arab headed the two-judge bench court petition hearing. Unlike common citizens they can keep their vehicle glass tinted.
Advocate Farooq H. Naek held the plea of Zardari. The petition stated that Zardari and his family members travel abroad for various political and other reasons. Intelligence sources have informed him of serious life threats.
Pointing out to Zardari’s role in the operation held against Taliban in Swat and the supervisor of the country’s armed forces, there are threats to his life. Zardari has pleaded to take the security measures on his own expenditures, without burdening the government. He stressed to be safeguarded 24 hours. His request has been approved by the Sandy High Court.
