Sir Ghulam Hussain Hidayatullah – Brief Profile

Sir Ghulam Hussain Hidayatullah was born in Shikarpur in 1878. His father’s name was Hidayatullah who belonged to Kashmir. Ghulam Hussain was very fond of studies. He was very poor and used to study under the street lights. He passed law from Bombay. He started his legal practice in Hyderabad (Sindh).

Formerly, Sindh was a part of the Bombay presidency. People started a movement for the separation of Sindh from Bombay. Sir Ghulam Hussain attended the round table conference of the political leaders in London. He made a very effective speech in favour of separation of Sindh.

Sindh was separated from Bombay and was made a province in 1936. After the establishment of Pakistan; he became the first governor of Sindh. His services to Pakistan specially to Sindh cannot be forgotten.
