State Bank on Pakistan Governor Ashraf Wathra Biography

Ashraf-M-Wathra2Mr. Ashraf Mahmood Wathra was appointed as Deputy Governor (DG), SBP in March 11, 2013 for three years as he takes 35 years of marketable & stock banking experience to his new job. Before joining SB, he was working at the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) as its High-ranking Executive Vice President & Group Chief in Credit Management Group since October, 2012.

He has worked on various banks, Mr. Wathra has also worked for Habib Bank Limited from April 1999 to September 2012 in different abilities like Regional General Manager (Bangladesh), Executive Vice President & Regional General Manager (Singapore), Executive Vice President, Group Executive and Risk Manager & Senior Credit Officer, Asset Remedial Management Group.

Faysal Bank Limited is also one of them where he worked for as Executive Vice President & Country Risk Manager, Executive Vice President & Regional Manager and Senior Vice President & Chief Manager from May 1992 to March 1999 and served his abilities to the bank for a period of time. BRR Capital Modaraba, Emirates Bank International, American Express Bank Ltd and ANZ Grindlays Bank was also accompanying with him.

Mr. Wathra has a master degree in Business Administration as well as he has also attended many seminars, conferences and courses at Pakistan and abroad also containing Wharton/SMU General Management Program, Operational Risk Management and Asian Bonds Summit etc. He has a broad knowledge in reformation and reorganization of business entity whereas he also holds far reaching information of investment banking and marketable banking processes, trade finance products and fundamental provision systems. Moreover he also knows about marketing of a cross section of business, government and aid agencies including syndication of large services for corporate and municipal segment.
